Hey my name is Kara. I'm a photography student in Boston. I'm doing a photo project for display in a local coffee shop. I'm looking for unique and open minded volunteers for the project. What makes this project unique is that all of the pictures for the project will be taken by the volunteers themselves, which enables me to have people from all over the globe involved. I'm making a collage of peoples faces hands and feet and arranging all of the pictures randomly. The whole concept of the project is to see if people who view the project can match the feet and the hands to the faces. And since the people for the project will be taking the pictures themselves, no two pictures will be alike. If you're interested in volunteering I would just need a picture of your face, Two pictures of your hands one picture of the top of your hands, the other picture the palms. And two pictures of your feet, one of the tops of your feet, the other one the soles. All you'd have to do is email me the pictures and I'll add them to the project. If you'd like I can email you a picture of the finished project. I am hoping that the project turns out good, as I think it's a cool concept that's never been attempted before. Everyone I'm asking to volunteer is being selected completely at random. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. I thank you for your time. I know this quite random, but such is life. I look forward to hearing back from you. Take Care :-)

Open Call for Photo Submission: My L.A. Pic

This call goes out to everybody in Los Angeles. We want your digital photographs of Los Angeles for My L.A. Pic project to be included in the upcoming exhibit L.A. 225 which will be held at the Pico House Gallery to commemorate the 225th birthday of Los Angeles in September of 2006.

The objective of My L.A. Pic is to create a digital photographic presentation of Los Angeles’ neighborhoods as seen through the eyes of the people who live there. Show your side of L.A. that people wouldn’t normally see. You do not have to be an artist or photographer to participate.

There is NO entry fee and the youth are encouraged to participate. We also encourage Los Angeles organizations to share this information with their members. Photographs selected to be included in the exhibit are the sole discretion of the project’s organizers.
Photo Submission Guidelines

Number of Submissions Accepted: Each person may submit one digital photograph which must have been taken within the city of Los Angeles.

The following information must be included in the submission:

1-Where was the photo shot? Use nearest intersection. Example: Wilshire & Western.

2-When was the photo taken? Example: Aug.1.2006

3-What is the photographer’s first and last name?

4- What is the photographer’s age? Example: Age: 22

All photos must be:

Original: Photos submitted must have been taken by the person submitting, and may not be a reproduction of another image. Images that might infringe on copyright, trademark or that promote a commercial product will not be selected.
Family friendly: All photos must be suitable for viewing by general public, this includes children. Any photo deemed inappropriate will not be selected.

Size: All photos must be in JPEG (.jpg) format at 72 dpi. The dimensions may not be larger than 720 and smaller than 160 pixels. If this all sounds too complicated, don’t despair. It’s actually quite simple. You can even do it online for free. Just use your favorite browser and search for keywords like “resize photo”. We found the following website by doing the same: http://www.resize2mail.com/ Please note that we are in no way affiliated with this website and found them by doing a search on the internet. They are a free service and resizing your photo will take only a minute or two. It’s really important to send us the right size no matter how you resize the photos. We simply do not have the resources to do it for you. If you do use the said website (or any other) please choose the [720 x 540] dimension specification. Other sizes will not be considered.

Deadline for the first stage is Friday, Aug. 19, 2006 at 5pm.

Email your image along with the requested information to: myLApic@yahoo.com and type "My LA Pic" in the subject line

You may only submit your picture once; multiple submissions will be disqualified. IMPORTANT: By sending your image to myLApic@yahoo.com you agree to allow the organizers to use your image in the L.A. 225 exhibition and its associated publicity. Please contact project coordinator at myLApic@yahoo.com with all inquires.

This information and updates will be available on: http://www.geocities.com/mylapic

Ever try to use a color gel with an umbrella? Those dish attachments always get in the way. Somebody's got to give birth to a new design standard! How about a lense instead of a dish? Still photogs like spots and colors too. And make the attachements interchangeable, while your at it.

1. Entries are to be posted in the Photo's area of the tribe in this fasion. Id - Challange month - Challange theme.

2. Try and keep the images as pure as possible , border and touchs ups and such are fine but most of the image > 80% must be real.

3. We will have a thread setup to vote for each months entires. I am gonna make some suggestions to improve the tribe setup to accomodate this type of tribe better.

4. No fighting and arguing or nasty remarks. Constructive critisim only , if there are personal attacks they will be removed.

5. HAVE FUN and GROW!

Thats all this old hippy can think of right now if you have any other ideas please feel free to add to this thread and we will try and incorporate them.
